SDSCPA Dancers Go to the National High School Dance Festival

The SDSCPA Dance Department needs your help to reach the National Stage at the highly acclaimed National High School Dance Festival (NHSDF), February 28-March 4, 2018 at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. Over 1,200 high school students in grades 9-12 from around the world will participate in five days of workshops, auditions and performances with professional dancers and choreographers at the Festival. This experience will open doors to our school and our dancers.

The Festival offers one full day of auditions for scholarships and admission to universities, conservatories and summer intensives. SDSCPA dancers will be competing for thousands of dollars in scholarship monies awarded at the Festival. SDSCPA dancers will also compete to perform at the highlight event, the evening Gala. This year, SDSCPA’s Dance Department commissioned work from principal dancer Hope Boykin of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Christopher Huggins, Kevin Jenkins, John Pennington and Pablo Francisco Ruvalcaba. One of these beautiful pieces choreographed for our dancers will be used as our audition piece for the Gala performance at NHSDF. We are ready!

SDSCPA aims to send the maximum number of students, along with the necessary 1-2 teachers and 2-3 chaperones, to the 2018 five-day Festival. The cost of registration fees, room, board and air fare is $1,300.00 per person. Please help us reach our goal of raising $40,000.00 to send our students to the National High School Dance Festival. Join us and together we will make student's dreams become a reality.
